Tokyo Gas Sales Down 7,8 Percent in November

Total gas sales volume by Tokyo Gas Co., Ltd., for the month of November 2011 came to about 981.727 million m3, decreased by 83.317 million m3 (-7.8%) from November 2010.

In the residential sector, volume totaled 224.343 million m3, down 10.8% from November 2010, owing to the decreased demand for water heating due to higher average temperature than the year-earlier month.

In the business sector (consisting of commercial, public, and medical use), due to the lower operation rate on the part of existing facilities, the volume decreased by 12.3% to 167.160 million m3.

In the industrial sector, volume totaled about 413.748 million m3, down 4.0% from last year due to lower operation rate of existing customers’ facilities, etc.

Volume for wholesale supply to other gas companies totaled about 176.476 million m3, down 8.1% from November 2010 due to decreased demand of wholesale gas suppliers.

The total gas sales volume for the cumulative period of April to November 2011 was 8,176.694 million m3, down by 2.0%.

Tokyo Gas is Japan’s largest city gas supplier and its operations extend from participation in upstream LNG projects to transport by LNG tanker, conversion to gas at LNG terminals, gas supply through pipelines, sales of gas appliances, and safety at customer sites.
