Tsuneishi Shipbuilding Launches New Vessel for NYK Bulkship

Tsuneishi Shipbuilding Co. held the launching ceremony for 82.000 DWT KAMSARMAX bulk carrier named NBA MAGLITTE, build for NYK BULKSHIP (ATLANTIC) NV, on November 6th 2012. The name KAMSARMAX derives from the ship’s length, which is the maximum possible for entry into the port of Kamsar in Guinea, West Africa.

The KAMSARMAX bulk carriers developed by Tsuneishi are one of its major products alongside the TESS series.

The ship has 7 cargo holds, with side-rolling type hatch covers for each. In addition, cargo hold hatchways are built at maximum width to improve the efficiency of loading and unloading. Grain crops, coal, and iron ore can all be loaded onto the ship. High density material such as iron ore can be loaded into alternating cargo holds, such as No.1, No.3, No.5, and No.7.

Additionally, the ship is equipped with MT-FAST, which is designed to conserve energy, at the ship’s tail. The fuel tank is equipped with a double-hull in consideration of environmental concerns.
