K Line's PSV Supports Statoil's Drilling Ops Offshore Faroe Islands

K Line Offshore has announced that the large PSV KL Brofjord, built in 2011, commenced on a contract for Statoil on 14th June.

The contract period is for approximately 130 days.

The vessel will serve the COSL Pioneer, semi submersible rig which is presently drilling  at Brugdan II prospect offshore Faroe Islands.

“This contract with Statoil represents another important milestone for our Company,” said K Line Offshore in a press release.

The Brugdan II prospect, located in Statoil operated  license oo6, is  the first DP operation performed by COSLPioneer at a water depths of 459 meters. Parts of the formation to be drilled (2500 meters) is a very hard lava called Basalt, and the drilling rates will be low in this formation.

Statoil operates the license with 50% interest. Other partners in the license are ExxonMobil (49 %) and Atlantic Petroleum (1%).

Norway’s exploration and production company Statoil participates in exploration on the Faroese Continental Shelf with six operatorships.
