Klaipedos Nafta secures funds for Lithuania’s first LNG reloading station

Klaipedos Nafta received a financial boost from the European Union for the upgrade of its LNG infrastructure in Klaipeda, under the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF).

As part of a Blue Baltics project, the European Union provided €15 million, €4 million of which will be directed to Klaipedos Nafta’s LNG reloading station project, the company said on Tuesday.

Besides Klaipedos Nafta’s LNG reloading station, the funds will cover investment in the expansion of LNG fuelling infrastructure in Estonia and upgrade of an LNG distribution terminal in Sweden.

In addition, a bunkering vessel in Germany will be implemented during the project. The project is planned to be completed by the end of second quarter in 2019.

Klaipedos Nafta has already received €6 million of EU support in 2015 for construction works of the LNG reloading station and €0.15 million of EU support in 2014 for LNG reloading station FEED and other preparation works.
