Klaipedos Nafta, Sofregaz initiate LNG distribution station preparations

Klaipedos Nafta and Sofregaz have launched a joint project for preparation and environmental assessment for an LNG distribution station.

This will be the second step before beginning the construction of the liquefied natural gas distribution station. During the first phase, a technological concept was developed together with a comprehensive analysis of the site and technology.

According to a Klaipedos Nafta statement, it is expected that several containers will be set up at the distribution station with the optimal number to be decided during the second phase. Three filling stations will be installed in order to enable loading of three tanker trucks and bunker one vessel at a time.

The progress of the preparation works is to be presented in April, and Klaipedos Nafta informed that 50% of the total €300,000 needed for the implementation of the preparatory work will be provided by the European Union through its TEN-T program.
