Kogas December sales drop

South Korea’s Kogas, the world’s largest corporate buyer of LNG, said its sales volume totaled 3.49 million mt in December, down 22.8 percent as compared to the same month last year.

Sales into the power sector were at 1.29 million mt, a drop of 31.3 percent, while the company’s city gas sales were down 16.7 percent on year to 2.2 million mt, Kogas said in a filing to the stock exchange on Friday.

The company’s gas sales in November were at 2.58 million mt, down 15.7 percent as compared to the previous year.

South Korea imports liquefied natural gas via the Pyeongtaek, Incheon and Tongyeong facilities.

The county is also building the fourth LNG import terminal at Samcheok. Kogas in December completed the first phase of the LNG receiving terminal located some 250 kilometers east of Seoul.
