Kyushu Secures JBIC Loan for LNG Imports

The Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) said it has recently signed a loan agreement totaling up to JPY15 billion with Kyushu Electric Power to help the utility to finance its LNG imports.

This loan was provided in coordination with Japanese private financial institutions and the Development Bank of Japan Inc. (DBJ).

In the aftermath of the Great East Japan Earthquake, a stable supply of electricity is recognized as an urgent issue for the lives of the Japanese people and national economic activity. Thus, looking toward the near future, it has become more important than ever to ensure stable and sustained procurement of LNG to be used as fuel for thermal power generation,” JBIC said in a statement.
