LGM Engineering, formerly known as Gloryholder LGM, has secured a deal to supply an LNG fuel gas supply system to Dalian Shipbuilding Industry (DSIC).

The company noted in its statement it will supply the LNG FGSS to the Chiese shipyard for the construction of a liquefied natural gas-fueled 318,000 crude oil tanker.

The vessel is being built for COSCO Shipping Energy Transportation (COSCO Shipping) and is being classed by China Classification Society (CCS).

The vessel, the world’s first duel-fueled VLCC, fully complies with the IMO regulation requirements of SOx and NOx emission Tier III and EEDI Phase III.

The vessel is equipped with two LGM 3500-cbm type C LNG tanks and fuel gas supply system, one WinGD low-speed two-stroke middle-pressure dual-fuel main engine, three four-stroke low-pressure DF generators and two low-pressure DF boilers.

The vessel is seen as a breakthrough for LNG as fuel within this segment of the shipping industry and important development towards a greener shipping industry as more shipowners are expected to follow suit in the near future, LGM Engineering’s statement reads.
