Lithuania: Klaipedos Nafta Cancels LNG-Link Tender

Klaipedos Nafta Cancels LNG-Link Tender

Klaipedos Nafta of Lithuania said it has suspended plans to approve this week a contractor to link an LNG terminal to Lithuania ’s grid pending a probe of the tender terms.

“On 22 January 2013 AB Klaipedos Nafta received a letter from the Public Procurement Office regarding presentation of the documents of international procurement “Procurement of engineering, procurement and construction works for natural gas pipeline system (EPC)” performed under the negotiated procedure  for evaluation, by which, inter alia, the Company was obligated to suspend the procedure of conclusion of the contract for Procurement until the Public Procurement Office gives an evaluation of the documents and decisions presented by the Company,” Klaipedos Nafta said in a statement.

“The Company will present the documents and decisions in connection with the Procurement to the Public Procurement Office as fast as possible. In case the Public Procurement Office evaluates them in the urgent manner, then, in the opinion of the Company, temporary suspension of the procedure of conclusion of the contract for Procurement should not have an impact on the timely implementation of the liquefied natural gas terminal project,” the company added.

Höegh LNG has last year entered into a ten year time charter with Klaipėdos Nafta for a floating LNG storage and regasification unit to be used as an LNG import terminal in Lithuania.
