LNG Carrier Collides with VLCC off Fujairah

A Malta-flagged LNG carrier has been involved in a collision with a Hong Kong-flagged very large crude carrier (VLCC) off Fujairah, the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The incident occurred on March 24, 2019, according to data provided by VesselsValue.

The ships in question are the 154,999 cbm LNG carrier Aseem and the 313,400 cbm tanker Shinyo Ocean, owned by Petronet LNG/Qatar Gas Transport JV and Navios Maritime Acquisition, respectively.

Both vessels sustained bow damages but their extent remains unknown.

The cause of the incident has not been disclosed.

World Maritime News sought more details on the collision from relevant companies, however, they are yet to reply.
