LOC chooses ex-BP man as new energy projects development director

Marine and engineering consulting firm LOC has appointed a new energy projects development director.

LOC said on Wednesday that Ian Cummins, ex-head of engineering at BP, was named as the company’s new energy projects development director.

Cummins will focus on the oil and gas and renewables markets and help to identify and develop new and innovative engineering opportunities to progress the business.

R.V. Ahilan, joint CEO at LOC group and group director of LOC Renewables, said: “Ian’s track record and the depth and breadth of his expertise in developing large-scale offshore energy projects speaks for itself, and we’re delighted to welcome him to LOC.

According to LOC, through driving industry-wide collaboration and standardization initiatives in oil and gas Cummins has contributed to the sharp reduction in costs.

“As the scale of offshore wind projects increases, learnings from the cost reductions in the oil and gas sector can make a significant impact on offshore renewables projects,” the company added.
