Lukoil’s North Caspian fields hit new oil production milestone

Russian oil company Lukoil has reached the 15-million-tonnes mark in terms of oil produced at the Yuri Korchagin and Vladimir Filanovsky fields located in the North Caspian Sea.

Lukoil’s previous milestone of 10 million tonnes of oil produced from the two fields was reached in June last year.

Both fields are in their second construction stage, Lukoil noted in a statement announcing the milestone last week.

Construction and commissioning of production and an injection wells was completed as part of the second stage at the V. Filanovsky field. Further implementation of the drilling program will make it possible to maintain stable production at the project level of 6 million tonnes of oil per year.

As part of the second construction stage of the Yu. Korchagin field, the riser block platform topside is being prepared for offshore transportation. The second stage of drilling will kick off development of the reserves in the eastern part of the field.
