Exploration & Production

Lundin Norway AS (Lundin) has received consent from the Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA) Norway to drill an exploration well 7220/11-3 located in the Barents Sea with the Island Innovator rig.

Lundin is the operator for production licence 609 in block 7220/11 in the Barents Sea.

According to the PSA, drilling is scheduled to begin in June 2015 and estimated to last 56 days, depending on whether a discovery is made. Water depth at the site is 397 metres.

The well is to be drilled by the Island Innovator semi-submersible drilling rig of the GM4000-WI type, built in 2012 at Cosco Zhoushan Shipyard in China.

The rig is operated by Odfjell Drilling, registered in Norway and classified by DNV GL. Island Innovator was issued with an Acknowledgement of Compliance (AoC) by the PSA in August 2013.
