Lundin to Use Transocean Winner in PL 338 (Norway)

The Petroleum Safety Authority Norway has granted approval to Lundin Petroleum for exploration drilling of well 16/1-17 with the Transocean Winner semi-submersible rig.

Well 16/1-17 is located in the southern part of the North Sea, in a prospect east of the Edvard Grieg field in production licence PL 338, operated by Lundin. The other licensees in the production licence are Wintershall Norge AS and RWE Dea Norge AS. Water depth at the site is 109 metres.

At the earliest, drilling will start at the end of December 2012, and the planned duration is 49 days. The consent also includes a potential sidetrack and possible production testing. The overall duration is then expected to be 94 days. Following drilling and potential production testing, the well will be permanently plugged and abandoned.
