The ship’s managers, Dutch-based ForestWave, said in an update that the crew member was found late last night during a search of the vessel, which is currently in a safe position in Nigerian waters.

FWN Rapide was moved to the location by two of the remaining seafarers that managed to escape the pirates.

“The valued seafarer who has been hiding on board of the vessel following an attack by pirates on Saturday, April 20, is unharmed and in a healthy and good condition,” the company said.

ForestWave added that it was unable to establish contact with the eleven crew members that remain missing.

“Their safety and swift return remain the company’s main priority,” the company added.

ForestWave said earlier that it was working with the local and international authorities on the matter.

The Dutch-flagged ship, built in 2005, was on its way from Takoradi, Ghana to Port Harourt, Nigeria when it came under attack from pirates.
