Meyer Turku: construction starts on Tallink LNG ferry

Meyer Werft’s Turku shipyard in Finland said it has started construction of Tallink’s LNG-powered fast ferry on Tuesday.

The LNG ferry will be about 212 metres in length with a passenger capacity of 2800. It will cost around 230 million euros.

The ship, which will operate on the route between Helsinki and Tallinn, will be delivered in the beginning of 2017, Meyer Turku said in a statement.

Tallink’s new ‘environmentally friendly’ ship complies with the new and stricter emission regulations for the ECA areas including the Baltic Sea, it added.
