Mingde Heavy Hosts Naming Ceremony of JO LOTUS

The biggest stainless steel chemical tanker ever built by Mingde Heavy Industry was named successfully on the afternoon of September 25th 2013. Godmother Mrs. Aas named the new ship as “JO LOTUS”.

Mr. Ji Fenghua, the Chairman of Mingde Group, and Mr. Odfjell, the owner of Jo Tankers AS, gave their speeches at the ceremony.

The length of this vessel is 183m, with 28.4m width, 15.2m depth and 10m draft. The tanker is powered by a single propeller, low speed diesel engine for unrestricted navigation, with a dead weight of 30,000T.

The cargo area is divided into 28 cargo tanks. All cargo tanks are made of stainless steel. Each cargo tank is a self-contained unit totally separated from each other. Each cargo tank is served by an independent deep-well pump and cargo transfer system enabling her to contain 28 different kinds of cargo, while loading or unloading 6 tanks simultaneously.

This advanced stainless steel vessel, with IMOI/II/III notation, represents an expansion and further renewal of the Jo Tankers’ core fleet.

Delivery of the JO LOTUS is scheduled for mid-November.
