MOL Comfort's Fore Part Still in Flames

The fire on MOL Comfort’s fore part that broke out on July 6th continues to rage. The Indian Coast Guard vessel ‘Samudra Prahari’ joined the other two rescue boats in the firefighting operation on July 8th.

Due to adverse weather affecting the firefighting effort, the fire is not yet under control. Observations show that most of the containers on deck have been burnt out, while MOL has not been able to confirm the situation in the cargo hold.

“The firefighting effort and monitoring of the situation will continue”, MOL said in a statement.
