MOL shifts LNG responsibilities within business restructuring

Japan’s Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) said the company intends to restructure its organization with effect from April 1, 2017.

As part of the reorganization, the company will transfer the group that is responsible for LNG carrier projects in Russia and China, to the LNG carrier division.

The offshore and LNG project division will also be restructured in order to focus its efforts on expanding the offshore business. As a result, the offshore and LNG project division will be renamed into the offshore project division.

Within its energy transport business unit, MOL will set up a bunker business office to accelerate the initiatives concerning vessels with engines that use alternative fuels such as LNG. The unit will engage in LNG and other fuel supply business.

The company further noted it will establish a product transport business unit, named One MOL to meet the demand in the product transport field. In connection to the establishment of the One MOL, the company will also set up a business strategy execution office.

In addition, MOL will establish a new business creation group to gather information on new businesses.
