More gas than ever before delivered from Norway to EU

More gas than ever before was delivered from the Norwegian continental shelf (NCS) to Europe in 2015, with 108 billion standard cubic metres dispatched within Gassco’s operatorship, Norway’s Gassco said on Monday.

Sent to receiving terminals in Germany, Belgium, France and the UK, this quantity represented an increase of 7 billion scm from the year before, the company added.

“Availability for delivering gas through the transport system exceeded 99 per cent in 2015,” says Gassco CEO Frode Leversund.

“More than 30 per cent of Norwegian gas exports pass through our process plant at Kollsnes near Bergen, where capacity utilisation was record-high last year.”

Gassco, which says its goal is to provide the highest possible security of supply, said an average regularity of 99.38 per cent was achieved for the network in 2015, compared with 99.92 per cent the year before.

Furthermore, a new delivery record for a single day of 365.3 million scm was set on 22 November.

Overall deliveries of natural gas liquids (NGL) and condensate from the process plants at Kårstø and Kollsnes (via Vestprosess) increased to 9.6 tonnes last year. That compared with 8.1 tonnes for 2014.
