Morsi Calls for Rapid Implementation Steps for Suez Canal Corridor Project

 

President Mohamed Morsi has called for expediting the implementation steps for the Suez Canal Corridor project in view of its positive effect in supporting the Egyptian economy, luring Arab and world investments, providing thousands of job opportunities for the Egyptians in general and Sinai citizens and the Canal region in particular.

This came during the meeting held by the President with Minister of Housing and Urban Communities Tareq Wafiq at the Presidential Palace in Heliopolis in presence of some members of the President’s advisory team.

Meantime, the Ministry of Transport will today offer five mega projects in Eastern Port Said Region with total investments worth LE18 billion.

Minister of Transport Hatem Abdellatif will announce the details of these projects before the first conference on the Suez Canal Corridor Development Project, which will be held at Cairo International Conference Center.

These Projects include grain storage facilities, fuel and oil products storage tankers for supplying vessels and containers, logistic centers for handling international trade.

Abdellatif said in exclusive statements to “Al Ahram” that investments of the new containers handling station will amount to $ 550 million and provide 1000 jobs.

He said investments of the oil products handling project whose contract will be signed tomorrow amount to $ 550 million.

He also referred to grains handling facilities whose investments amount to $ 1,8 billion , saying investments of the logistics facilities will amount to $ 150 million .He said investments of the by-canal will amount to $ 130 million .

Meantime, Major General Ahmed Sharaf the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the General Authority for Port Said Harbors said the Suez Canal Corridor Development project will include East and West Port Said.
