Nacala Port Development Project Gets Financial Boost

Mozambique will receive financial help from the government of Japan for the first phase of the Nacala Port Development Project, located in Nampula province.

According to macauhub.com, the loan money (US$84 million) will be invested in:

– dredging program along the north quay,

– land reclamation and levelling, and

– paving of the container terminal.

This development project should have a positive impact on the Mozambique’s efforts to modernize transport infrastructures in the northern part of the country.

About Nacala Port

Nacala, also known as Cidade de Nacala or Nacala-Porto, on the northern coast of Mozambique, is the deepest natural port on the east coast of Africa.

The natural deep harbour serves landlocked Malawi with a 931-kilometre (578 mi) railway.
