Naming Ceremony for ‘Amber Champion’ (China)

Naming Ceremony for 'Amber Champion'

Chengxi Shipyard Co. Ltd. today held a naming ceremony for the 63,800 DWT bulk carrier “Amber Champion”.

A representative of Chengxi Shipyard said in a speech during the ceremony:

In recent years, Chengxi Shipyard seized every crucial opportunity of giving full play to constant innovations, diversification and sustainable development. By the end of the eleventh five-year plan, the company had the total out-put value exceed 7.2 billion Yuan annually, achieving the target of annually building 22 vessels with total capacity of one million dead-weight tons. Since the twelfth five-year plan began, although facing a declined global marine market, the company developed bulk carriers of 35.000 DWT, 45.000 DWT, 46.000 DWT, 49.000 DWT, and 63.800 DWT series, and self-unloading vessels of 35.500 DWT and 71.900 DWT, which attracted many famous shipping companies including Hong Kong Goldwin Shipping Limited.

The Dolphin 64 bulk carrier, named and promoted today, built by Chengxi Shipyard according to the worldwide shipping development and owner’s diversified needs, is a Supermax vessel with energy-efficient, environmental-friendly, and economic characteristics. Not only does it have the index of each function much higher than the required baseline by standards, but also it shows unparalleled advantage in terms of cost-effectiveness over vessels of similar types.

The first “Dolphin 64”, was designed by SDARI, and built by Chengxi Shipyard Co., Ltd, after consistent efforts of 10 months, since the steel cutting on April 30, 2012.
