NAMPORT Introduces Expansion Plans for Walvis Bay

The Namibia Port Authority (NAMPORT) has unveiled plans to spend more than N$3 billion on the expansion of a new container terminal at Walvis Bay.

The large-scale expansion programme at Namport will contribute to government’s goal of job creation through the Targeted Intervention Programme for Employment and Economic Growth (TIPEEG),“ said Erongo Regional Governor, Cleophas Mutjavikua.

According to allafrica.com, over the past two years Namport invested N$57 million in the acquisition of two mobile harbour cranes, and bought six rubber-tyre gantries at a cost of N$93 million to bring about the required efficiency in its yard operations.
