The latest ones to get onboard the committee are Japan’s utility company JERA, French wind energy industry association FEE, and Norwegian company Aker Solutions.

The three new members join RWE, Northland Power, Innogy, DEME Group, US Business Network for Offshore Wind, ORE Catapult, Simply Blue Energy, Hogan Lovells, Ideol, and Green Giraffe, among others, who joined the initiative earlier.

The Floating Offshore Wind Committee will hold a kick-off meeting virtually on 17 June 2020.

“Europe, Asia and North America are now duly represented on the Committee and we look forward to adding even more leading international players to further boost the build-out of floating offshore wind on all continents. We look forward to working closely with all our members”, said Ideol’s Bruno Geschier, who is also the Chairman of the Floating Offshore Wind Committee.

According to WFO, the new initiative aims at duplicating, if not outperforming, the installed capacity and cost competitiveness seen with bottom-fixed offshore wind today.
