Nigeria: Lagos Takes Action Against Illegal Dredging

The Lagos State Government announced that the dredging companies within its territory without permits will be prosecuted if found to be operating outside the law.

According to thisdaylive.com, the state government “will henceforth persecute the multiple users of category ‘A’ permit.”

“It is imperative for companies to get site permits before engaging another company to dredge for them in order not to engage those who have not renewed their permits i.e. illegal dredgers,” said Mr. Adesegun Oniru, the state Commissioner for Waterfront Infrastructure Development.
