Brazil: Pacific Mistral Drillship Starts Work for Petrobras

Pacific Drilling S.A.  announced today that its ultra-deepwater drillship the Pacific Mistral commenced operations in Brazil on February 6, 2012. The drillship is contracted for a three-year term to Brazilian oil giant, Petrobras.

The Pacific Mistral is capable of operating in water depths of up to 12,000 feet and drilling wells 37,500 feet deep.

Pacific Drilling is  a growing offshore drilling company that provides global drilling services to the oil and natural gas industry through the use of ultra-deepwater drillships. Pacific Drilling’s fleet of six ultra-deepwater drillships will represent one of the youngest and most technologically advanced fleets in the world. The company currently operates four recently delivered drillships and has two additional drillships on order at Samsung Heavy Industries.
