North American LNG Fuel Supply Seminar to Be Held in Houston, USA

With domestic natural gas prices one tenth the price of diesel on an energy equivalent basis, numerous project developers are planning facilities to produce liquefied natural gas (LNG) for fleets of trucks, locomotives, ships and other heavy-duty consumers. Five will present multiple projects to a one-day seminar Dec. 13th in Houston, titled “North American LNG Fuel Supply.”

“Investors, alliance partners, gas producers and LNG consumers will have the chance to learn of these projects and assess the market’s ability to meet rising demand,” said Bob Nimocks, president of Zeus Development Corporation. “We’re fortunate to have such broad representation of the first wave of new projects on the program.”

LNG is the leading edge for natural gas-fueled transportation due to its suitability for the highest horsepower applications where fuel savings are most beneficial. Many new LNG production facilities, called liquefaction plants, are in planning stages as gas producers, utilities, energy companies and entrepreneurs work to establish the market.

Among the presenters during the Dec. 13th meeting are Conrad Grenfell, owner of Quadren Cryogenics based in Robbins, Calif.; Chris Coleman, vice president of New Mexico-based HEYCO Energy Group; Ray Latchem, president of Tulsa-based Spectrum LNG; David Sharp, principal, Floridian Natural Gas Storage; and David Schultz; vice president, Atlanta-based AGL Resources.

“In total, these companies are working ten or more new LNG production projects or expansions to existing facilities,” Nimocks said. “We estimate they could nearly double North American LNG production capacity.”

To quantify the market and predict how new capacity additions will unfold, Zeus analysts will present a detailed market review and forecast by region to identify those areas where demand is likely to be greatest. Developers will then present their projects and discuss their experiences in what it takes to build capacity in a rising market. Projects include new plants as well as expansions of existing facilities.
