Norway E.ON Gets Licence to Drill Near Skarv Offshore Field

E.ON Ruhrgas Norge AS, an upstream company established in Stavanger, Norway in 2003, has been granted a drilling permit for well 6507/6-4-A, cf. Section 8 of the Resource Management Regulations.

Well 6507/6-4-A will be drilled from the Borgland Dolphin drilling rig at position 65°38’55.6” north and 7°42’34.9”east after completing drilling of wildcat well 6507/6-4-S for E.On Ruhrgas Norge AS in production licence 350.

The drilling programme for well 6507/6-4-A relates to the drilling of a wildcat well in production licence 350. E.On Ruhrgas Norge AS is the operatorand owns 40% interest in the licence. The company’s partners in the licence are Statoil Petroleum AS (30 %) and PGNiG Norge AS (30 %).

The area in this licence consists of parts of block 6507/6. The well will be drilled about 10 kilometres east of the Skarv field and about 39 kilometres northeast of the Heidrun field.

Production licence 350 was awarded on 17 December 2004 in APA 2004. This is the second well to be drilled in the licence.

The permit is contingent upon the operator securing all other permits and consents required by other authorities before commencing drilling activity.
