Norway: Statoil Gets Nod for Drilling Exploration Well in North Sea with Ocean Vanguard Rig

 

Statoil has received consent to conduct exploration drilling of well 16/7-10 in the central part of the North Sea using the mobile facility Ocean Vanguard.

The well will be drilled in production licence 569, approx. 17 kilometres northeast of Sleipner.

The well coordinates are N 58° 29′ 56.56″, E 02° 01′ 31.42″. Water depth at the site is 85 metres.

The estimate duration of the drilling operation is 51 days.

Ocean Vangard is operated by Diamond Offshore, with an operations office in Stavanger and technical and operational support from the company’s office in Aberdeen.

The facility is registered on the Marshall Islands with Det Norske Veritas as classification society.

Ocean Vanguard was built in 1982 and received an Acknowledgement of Compliance (AoC) from the PSA in July 2004.
