Norway: Statoil to Use COSL Innovator to Drill on Troll Field

Statoil Petroleum AS has been granted consent for drilling on the Troll field with the mobile drilling facility COSLInnovator.  The consent applies to drilling, completion and plugback on the Troll field in production licence 054 and 085.

The water depth at the sites varies from 333 metres to 377 metres.

Statoil’s contract with COSL Drilling Europe for use of COSLInnovator has a duration of eight years from the start of the contract. According to plans, the rig will be used on Troll oil during this period.

COSLInnovator was built at Yantai Raffles Shipyard in China. The drilling package was delivered by National Oilwell Varco, and was built at Nymo in Grimstad, Norway.
