ONGC Hires Aban Ice Drillship (India)

Aban Offshore, a drilling contractor from India, has today confirmed it has secured a contract for its Aban Ice drillship with ONGC.

The drillship, capable of operating in water depths of up to 2000 feet, will be on the contract with ONGC for a period of three years.

The 183 meters long vessel is currently deployed off the west coast of India, according to Aban Offshore’s fleet status chart.

The total value of the contract is approximately USD 185 million (equivalent to Rs. 1050 crores). The contract is scheduled to start during the last quarter 2013.
