Ophir to start drilling Ivory Coast wildcat in May

Oil and gas explorer Ophir Energy is preparing to resume deepwater exploration works in Ivory Coast.

The company, which took over the operatorship of the CI-513 offshore block in early 2016, on Thursday said the preparations to drill the Ayame-1 deepwater exporation well off the Ivory Coast were at an advance stage.

Ophir expects to start drilling in late May. The well will target approximately 240 Pmmbbl mean recoverable resources with an estimated 28% chance of commercial success. Ophir has a 45% operated interest in the license.

As for the other potential exploration projects in 2017, Ophir said it would decide on further wildcat wells in Myanmar, Indonesia, Malaysia and Equatorial Guinea, in the next 6-18 months.

Also in Equatorial Guinea, Ophir on Thursday said the Fortuna FLNG project was progressing as planned, with the final investment decision expected in the first half of the year. More here https://bit.ly/2jHh8Nu
