Owen Sound Harbor Badly Needs Dredging (Canada)

Low water levels and the build-up of silt have been limiting shipping activities in the Owen Sound Harbor, therefore Grey County is providing support to MP Larry Miller’s plan according to which the port would be dredged by the Federal Government.

Miller expects the federal government to cover at least the cost of the necessary maintenance dredge that is anticipated to reach the amount of two million dollars.

Miller is supporting his plan by the fact that the harbor has not been dredged in about 25 years. There is a fear that the port will soon lose its commercial importance.

County Council approved the motion by the Planning Committee to write a letter of support for Miller’s effort.
