Pakistan Says IP Gas Pipe Project Priority

Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry has once again announced that the completion and implementation of Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline is a high priority for the country.

“Pakistan is trying to accelerate the construction work on the pipeline and plans to complete it in the shortest time possible“, Iran’s SHANA news agency quoted Abdul Basit spokesman of Pakistan’s foreign ministry as saying.

Recently, the head of the Pakistan Economy Watch (PEW) Murtaza Mughal said that Pakistan could not secure its future without the Iranian gas.

He went on to say that, construction work on the pipeline in Iranian area was completed and now Islamabad should immediately start building remaining portion of the pipeline.

It’s worth mentioning that, the Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline deal aims to export a daily amount of 21.5 million cubic meters and 8.7 billion cubic meters per year of Iranian natural gas to Pakistan.
