PDVSA Takes Delivery of Cuban-Built Harbor Tug

PDVSA, Venezuelan state oil company, has taken delivery of the second in a series of Cuban-built harbor tugs. The first, Kariña, was delivered in April last year. Like that vessel, the latest tug, Guaiquerie, has been built in the Havana shipyard of Caribbean Drydock Company. The PDVSA program is for a total of eight tugs, six to be built in Cuba and two in Venezuela.

The 30 m long tug has a beam of 10 m and a draft of 4 m. Equipped with azimuthing propulsion and firefighting equipment, the 4,700 hp vessel has a thrust capability of 57 tons.
