Malaysia’s Perisai Petroleum Teknologi has taken delivery of a newly built offshore jack-up drilling rig.

The company said that the rig, built by PPL shipyard in Singapore, was completed slightly ahead of schedule and was delivered to Perisay on Friday, June 20.

Preparations are underway to prepare the Perisai Pacific 101 to start work for Petronas Carigali Sdn Bhd.

The value of the contract with Petronas is $158 million, with any extension to the contractual duration subject to the mutual agreement of the parties.

The rig is a PPL Pacific Class® 400 design with technologically advanced drilling capabilities. The Perisai 101 is designed and equipped to drill high pressure and high temperature wells as deep as 30,000 feet.

It is also capable of operating in water depths of up to 400 feet, capable of doing offline activity while drilling, ability to be jacked-up with full pre-loading tanks and has full service accommodation for 150 personnel.
