Perla Del Caribe fuels up with LNG

General Dynamics NASSCO recently completed the first bunkering of liquefied natural gas for the Perla Del Caribe, the LNG-powered containership built for TOTE.

Bunkering services were provided by Clean Energy Fuels, Baker Hughes and Envent in an operation¬†that lasted 48 hours at NASSCO’s San Diego shipyard, the company said in a statement on Thursday.

The second LNG-powered vessel in a two-ship contract between NASSCO and TOTE, Perla Del Caribe, received 210,000 gallons of liquefied natural gas.

Once delivered the vessel will join the Isla Bella, the first LNG-powered containership that was launched in October, on the trade route between Jacksonville, Florida and San Juan, Puerto Rico.
