Peter Voser Steps Down as Shell CEO

As previously announced, Peter Voser stepped down as Chief Executive Officer and as a director of Royal Dutch Shell plc with effect from 1 January, 2014, marking the end of 29 years with the company.

He repatriated to his base country, Switzerland, and became an employee of Shell Switzerland, from 1 January, 2014. He will leave employment with the Shell group on 31 March, 2014. Peter Voser was appointed CEO in July 2009 and has been an Executive Director since 2004.

Ben van Beurden will succeed Voser as Chief Executive Officer, effective 1 January 2014. Van Beurden, 55, has been Downstream Director since January 2013. Van Beurden joined the Royal Dutch/Shell Group of Companies in 1983 and has held a number of technical and commercial roles in both the Upstream and Downstream businesses. He has worked in The Netherlands, Africa, Malaysia, USA and, most recently, the UK.
