Petrobras Among Ten Biggest Companies in the World

Brazil’s state controlled oil giant Petrobras ranks Nº 10 on the list of the world’s biggest corporations and is fourth in the oil sector, according to Forbes Global 2000.

The ranking was released on Wednesday, April 18, and contains over 30 Brazilian companies, but Petrobras is the only Latin American company in the top ten.

Forbes’ assessment is based on market value, sales, profits and assets. In 2011, Petrobras had a net income of R$33.313 billion (USD 17.7 billion) , and its 2011-2015 investment plan is worth US$224.7 billion.

Petrobras CEO Maria das Graças Silva Foster was recently elected as one of the 100 most influential people in the world by Time magazine. She is the Company’s first female CEO in its 58 years of Petrobras existence.
