Petrobras LNG Terminals Up for Grabs

Business & Finance

Brazilian oil company Petrobras has began a bidding process to sell its liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminals in Rio de Janeiro and Ceará, along with the thermoelectric power plants associated with these terminals.

The daily regasification capacity is of 20 million cubic meters at the Rio de Janeiro terminal and 7 million cubic meters at the Ceará terminal. Both terminals use chartered floating storage and regasification units (FSRUs).

“Until now, there are no deals signed securing the conclusion of the transaction, and no deliberation by the Executive Board or the Board of Directors of Petrobras,” the company said.

“Facts deemed relevant on this topic will be timely disclosed to the market.”

According to Brazilian newspaper O Globo newspaper, the U.S. company Cheniere Energy and Engie (former-GDF Suez) are competing for the terminals.
