Brazil’s national oil company Petrobras is taking part, between May 6th and 9th, in the Offshore Technology Conference (OTC), which has kicked off today in Houston (USA).

This is the world’s biggest event devoted to offshore oil exploration and production. At this year’s event, which will be attended by CEO Maria das Graças Silva Foster, the company will draw attention to the 311,000 barrels a day that are already being produced from the pre-salt layer. This figure was attained on April 17th, just seven years after oil was first discovered in the region. Development of the company’s Cascade and Chinook fields, in the Gulf of Mexico, and of technology for underwater systems will also discussed during the four days of the conference.

Company CEO Graça Foster will deliver a presentation on the Tuesday morning (May 7th), during the discussion on “Global Energy Outlook – Shaping the Future!”, where she will address the forecasts for growth in world energy demand up to 2030 and Petrobras’ role in serving this market. In the afternoon, at 4pm, Graça Foster will talk about her own background, as part of “Wise Networking Event – Women in the Industry Sharing Experience”.

Petrobras’ executive manager for Production Engineering in the Exploration & Production business area, Solange da Silva Guedes, will participate in the discussions on “Invited Organization: DeepStar”, which will take place on the Monday morning (May 6th), the opening day of the conference.
