Petronas of Malaysia Approves FLNG Project

Petronas of Malaysia has reached a final investment decision for floating LNG project in Sarawak which it aims to bring online in 2015, Tan Sri Shamsul Azhar Abbas, the company’s CEO said yesterday at the World Gas Conference in Kuala Lumpur.

It is with great pleasure that I announce that we have reached the final investment decision of our first floating LNG project, which aims to be the first of its kind in the world when it is commissioned in 2015,” he said.

He also said that the company is assessing the feasibility of constructing a second LNG import terminal in southern Johor, and a third terminal in Lahad Datu in east Malaysia is set to be commissioned in 2015.
