Photo of the Day: Eneco Luchterduinen Substation in Antwerp

All construction activities on Eneco’s four-story transformer station have been completed.

The Offshore High Voltage Station is sitting on large grounds of Fabricom Cofely (GDF SUEZ) in Hoboken (Antwerp) where it will be finished and tested prior to the installation scheduled for February next year.

The transformer station will collect electricity generated by 43 turbines at Eneco Luchterduinen wind farm and convert it to 150kV prior to sending it to the grid via more than 25 kilometers long power cable.

The substation was built by Cofely Fabricom-led consortium also including Iemants and CG.

Iemants designed and fabricated the topside and jacket foundation, while CG worked on high voltage parts.

Wind farm is expected to be operational by the end of 2015 when it will be able to generate green power for nearly 150,000 households.
