PGNiG Gas Sales Hit 5.1 Bcm in Q1

Polskie Górnictwo Naftowe i Gazownictwo (PGNiG)said it has sold approximately 5.1 billion cubic metres of natural gas in Q1 2012, against 4.8 billion in Q1 2011, setting its new record of quarterly sales.

In Q1 2012, the company produced 1.1 billion cubic metres of natural gas, on a par with the volume recorded in Q1 2011. In the first three months of 2012, the Company imported approximately 3 billion cubic metres of gas, 2.1 billion of which came from countries lying east of Poland. In Q1 2011, the respective volumes were 3.1 billion and 2.9 billion cubic metres.

The production of crude oil reached 128 thousand tonnes in Q1 2012, compared with 133 thousand tonnes in Q1 2011. In Q1 2012, crude oil sales amounted to 127 thousand tonnes, against 129 thousand tonnes in Q1 2011.

The volume of heat sales in Q1 2012 was 17.7 PJ, while electricity sales amounted to 1.4 TWh.

As at March 31st 2011, the high-methane gas underground storage facilities (the Brzeźnica, Husów, Strachocina, Swarzów, and Wierzchowice Underground Gas Storage Facilities, as well as the Mogilno Underground Gas Storage Cavern Facility) contained approximately 661 million cubic meters of gas, including volumes managed by Operator Systemu Przesyłowego Gaz-System SA and the mandatory stocks managed by the Minister of Economy. To compare – as at March 31st 2011, the underground gas storage facilities contained 334 million cubic metres of gas.
