Polish treasury minister to look into Swinoujscie LNG terminal issues with Saipem

Adnrzej Czerwinski, the recently appointed Polish treasury minister said he is to meet with Saipem of Italy, the company constructing the LNG import terminal at Swinoujscie.

Czerwinski said that, despite delays that have plagued the project which was supposed to be completed in 2014, Polish LNG terminal will be constructed by the end of this year, Reuters reports.

Saipem earlier informed that the construction of the terminal will be completed only if the company received further payments. Czerwinski said he will go over the details with Saipem and the ambassador during his visit to Swinoujscie and intends to find out what are the steps that need to be taken towards the completion of the project.

In the first stage of operation, the LNG import terminal will enable the regasification of 5 Bcm of natural gas annually. Depending on the increase of demand for gas, it will be possible to increase the dispatch capacity up to 7.5.
