Power Restored at Visund Platform

Statoil’s Visund platform, which lost electricity on Sunday, has restored its main power supply yesterday afternoon.

The power outage forced Statoil to shut production at the platform and transfer 84 workers to the nearby Gullfaks A platform in the North Sea.

“Work is now ongoing to get back in normal operation as soon as possible, too early to say when this will be,” said Morten Eek, Statoil’s spokesperson in an e-mail sent to Offshore Energy Today this morning.

According to a Stavanger-based newspaper, Aftenbladet, the production could resume during the course of the week, but it will take some time to reach full capacity.

Visund is an oil and gas field which covers blocks 34/8 and 34/7, 22 kilometres north-east of the Gullfaks field in the Tampen area of the Norwegian North Sea.
