Preparations Underway for Longview Dredging
The Port of Longview has just announced that they are preparing for long-overdue dredging to remove years’ worth of accumulated sediment.
The Willow Grove Boat Launch will be closed for a brief period of time to perform the dredging and dock maintenance between the dates of November 15th – December 15th.
“The Port is tackling a project that has been in high demand for a while now,” said Facilities Superintendent Dan Bean, who oversees the Park.
“The safety and ease in which park patrons can use the launch is our priority.”
Because dredging equipment is being used at other facilities along the river, exact closure dates are still unknown, the port said in its announcement.
The Port of Longview is the first full-service operating port with strategic transportation connections on the deep-draft Columbia River shipping channel in southwest Washington State.
The port is located just 66 river miles from the Pacific Ocean, 120 driving miles from Seattle, Washington, and 40 driving miles from Portland, Oregon.
