According to Korean website Asiasis, China’s Yangzijiang Shipbuilding has been selected for the job. Asiasis further reports that Primepoint has an option to order two more rigs of the same, Moss Maritime “Moss CS50″design.

The CS50 design was primarily developed for DP operations in ultra deep water and harsh environment with requirement for dual activity and high capacity drilling systems.

Apparently, the whole deal, including options, is valued at approximately $2 billion.

Neither Primepoint nor Yangzijiang responded to e-mails seeking confirmation of the agreement, sent by Offshore Energy Today.

Also, Moss Maritime in an e-mail said that it was not in a position to comment on the contractual status of their clients’ projects.
