Qatar, Pakistan Sign LNG MOU

Qatar, the world’s largest LNG producer, has yesterday signed a memorandum of understanding with Pakistan for the supply of around 3.5 mtpa of LNG to Pakistan.

The deal was signed by Qatar’s minister for energy Dr Mohammed Bin Saleh Al-Sada and Pakistan’s minister for petroleum and natural resources Dr Asim Hussain .

The liquefied natural gas will be initially used for power generation in Pakistan.

Pakistan desperately needs energy, mainly to feed its power sector which consumes almost half of the total domestic natural gas supplies.
